Proxy socket error with some VS Code extensions

Describe the issue

At some point recently (not sure which exact version, sorry), it appears a regression of #340 has been introduced. With the CodeGate proxy configured for Copilot, some VS Code extensions (examples: the official GitHub Pull Request and GitHub Actions extensions) now get a socket error:

Configure VS Code proxy settings for CodeGate. Try to use the GitHub Actions extension.
