In scenarios where we disconnect the bridge (for instance due to timeouts waiting for debug commands and falling back to unattended execution), we should handle the event and make the send operation no-op.
This is a nice-to have improvement, the current behavior is that the bridge will try to send and fail, but otherwise continue execution
