Stutters when holding a modular tool

Describe the bug
The game stutters (drops a couple frames) when holding a modular tool and hovering over a block for the first time. The stutter repeats if you I swap off then back onto the tool, or after breaking a block and hovering over a block again.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Hold a modular tool
2. Hover over a block
3. Experience frame drop
4. Break a block
5. Hover another block
6. Experience frame drop again

Expected behavior
No frame drop

I have a suspicion that this might be related to checking tool attributes? This could also be related to jade?
